Hi, Just read your newsletter- very inetersting- where are you based? Do you
have a webcam? I produce a new show about the global media , called the Listening Post for Al Jazeera International. We have
a segment called Global Village Voices where viewers say what they think about how the global media has covered the week's
big stories-- or in some cases hasn't. Would you be interested. Best Wishes, Anne Reevell, Executive
Producer, The Listening Post TV

Council
or Arab-British Understanding (CAABU) Press Release CAABU welcomes the vote on UN fact finding inquiry into Gaza
but deplores British stance
16 October 2009 Whilst welcoming the outcome of the vote at the UN Human Rights Council on the UN Mission’s report into Gaza,
CAABU would to express its strong objection to the UK position. The British representative did not turn up to vote having
delivered a statement that failed even the basic standards of fairness and balance refusing to condemn Israeli crimes.
Chris
Doyle, CAABU’s Director, was highly critical. “Britain will not be taken as a serious player
in the Middle East and elsewhere if it continues to excuse and condone each and every violation of international law committed
by the state of Israel. As the vote was taking place, an entire civilian population in Gaza remains collectively punishment
to the point of near starvation, where houses are now being built from mud. This stance sends a signal that Palestinian
lives and rights amount to nothing, and that Israel will never be held to account.”

Inbox Sincere Wishes to America to Go Back to Representing All Good Things by: Andrea Miriam Nelson That was a really wonderful account. It says what
I think quite a few people feel…to include Americans. I hope our administration changes soon (or the people get
fed up and remove the neo-cons) and the country can go back to representing all the good things you mentioned as opposed to
just being the most recent bully on the international block. Then again, I am an expatriate and have the luxury of not having to return there (say if the
government becomes even more dictatorial). Not every one can do that, so I will hope and pray for the best for everyone’s
sake. I too have switched
my news source to Al Jazeera (and sometimes Sky news…) the coverage from the States has just sort of sunk into adverts
for either the GWOT or the Republican party. Thank you for your
time. Adrea Miriam Nelson - Doha Thank you,
Andrea Nelson, for you support and most authentic comments. Toufic Barakeh
